Nashville, TN – November 24, 2008 – Taylor Swift capped off a big week at last night’s American Music Awards, where she walked away with the award for Favorite Female Artist – Country. Just prior to winning her award, Taylor wowed the crowd with her poignant debut television performance of “White Horse,” her new single from her just-released sophomore CD, Fearless. “White Horse” goes to country radio today.
“I guess I saw my name on the ballot, but never really thought I had a chance at winning,” Taylor said of her big AMA win. “This has been the best week of my life! The reason that I won this award is all of my friends on MySpace and all of the fan sites. I love them all!”
“White Horse” debuted this week at #13 on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 singles chart, and with that Taylor has notched her 6th all-genre Billboard Top 20 debut of 2008, a calendar-year record for any artist in the 50-year history of the chart. She breaks the record of five, set this summer. Taylor is now tied for second place with Mariah Carey and the Beatles for the most Top 20 debuts in a career. One more new entry inside this elite tier will put her in a three-way tie for first place with Janet Jackson and Madonna.
Last week, Taylor topped Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart with sales of over 592,000 copies of Fearless, released on Big Machine Records. This was the largest opening U.S. sales week in 2008 by a female artist in all genres of music, and the fourth biggest overall. Fearless is the biggest country digital album debut in the history of Nielsen’s SoundScan, and the 4th biggest digital album debut to date,
As the cover girl of CosmoGirl magazine’s year ending December/January double issue, Taylor Swift claims the title of CosmoGirl’s 2008 Girl of the Year. Taylor is featured on the cover and in an accompanying five-page spread, where she is lauded with the lead position in the magazine’s annual Born To Lead honors section. Taylor was photographed for the feature in New York’s Central Park.
Taylor is also on the covers of the December issues of Girls’ Life and Women’s Health magazines, and in November appeared on the covers of Billboard and Redbook. She is on the cover of the Dec. 15 issue of First magazine, and will be the cover girl of Your Prom magazine’s 2009 edition, on news stands from late December through May of next year.

Taylor Swift: Insider Special Edition, a special episode of CMT Insider, premieres this Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, at 10 a.m. ET.
