Akon has stated that he "honestly disagrees" with will.i.am's recent criticism of the decision to make Michael Jackson's unreleased music available for purchase.
The 'Don't Matter' singer told TMZ that he is opposed to will.i.am's stance that Jackson's unreleased material should remain in the vaults.
"I don't see anything disrespectful about it," he said.
"These albums would have come out if [he] was alive or dead so I think this helps to keep his legacy alive."
Akon further explained that working with Jackson on a duet that recently emerged online was a "dream come true.. it was epic".
Michael, a collection of the star's unreleased recordings, is to be released on December 13.
