Grammy audience in more than 11 years

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A broad mix of music stars urged the audience of the Grammy Awards to its highest level in 11 years, the organizers created a party atmosphere that has distinguished the program from other Hollywood galas.
The show, which was watched by more than 26 million viewers, put your focus on a combination of classic stars as the leader of the Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Barbra Streisand and young faces like Katy Perry and Justin Bieber did a duet with Jaden Smith.
The Grammys, held on Sunday, are delivered by U.S. Major Academy. In recent years, organizers have reduced the amount of awards given in the televised version of the show and have given emphasis on actions to maintain public harmony.
"The show has been getting closer and closer to not be an awards show," he told Reuters TV Guide critic Matt Roush Magazine. "In some ways, is a new version of the old variety shows," he added.
And this seems to have worked, judging by the audience.
The CBS television network said on Monday that 26.66 million people tuned their TVs to see the performance of Cee Lo Green singing "Forget You" dressed like a peacock, and Lady Gaga out of a giant egg to sing "Born This Way. "
The total audience rose 3 percent from the 25.87 million recorded in 2010, CBS said.
Comments on the show were mixed, with the critic Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter calling it "terrible" and "often chaotic and bad rhythm."
The music critic Ann Powers Los Angeles Times said good things about the transmission.
"Despite the generational difference in range was impressive, ultimately the spirit belonged to the future, so unpredictable and fragmented," wrote Powers.
For Roush, one of the highlights was the performance of Green, with the support of the puppets of Jim Henson and singer and actress Gwyneth Paltrow with movements on a piano.

The winners this year included some of the biggest names in the world of pop music, hip-hop, rap, country and rock. Among the other singers featured Lady Gaga, Eminem.
There was also the country trio Lady Antebellum with awards for Song of the Year and Best Record of the Year for "Need You Now." In the category of Best Album won the Canadian rockers Arcade Fire with "The Suburbs".
