Kylie Minogue has earned herself a place in the record books this week, as her latest album Aphrodite tops the UK charts, making her the first artist in UK history to ever have a #1 record in four consecutive decades.
The 42-year-old first reached the top spot back in 1988 with her debut album Kylie, followed by her sophomore effort Enjoy Yourself the next year. She then hit #1 again in 1992 with her Greatest Hits compilation, and again in 2001 with the mega-selling Fever. Aphrodite brings Kylies total of UK #1 albums to five.
Ive been completely overwhelmed by the reaction to Aphrodite and to hear that the album has gone to number one is the most amazing news. I am ecstatic.
My hopes for this album were that people would be moved, that the songs could bring about emotion. The euphoric heart of this album has taken flight and the response has been nothing short of incredible.

Its a good thing that the Brits are showing the Aussie pop princess some love, because her own country Australia seem to have turned their back on the star. First off, All The Lovers became the second lowest charting lead single of Kylies career when it debuted and peaked at a disappointing #14. Then, Aphrodite only managed to debut at #2 on the official albums chart, lagging behind Eminems Recovery which is now in its third week of release.
Softening the blow of the bitter Aussies is the news that Aphrodite will most likely debut within the top 20 of the Billboard charts this week a huge feat considering shes done zero US promo, is not a well known artist in the country and currently has no singles charting anywhere outside of the Billboard club charts.

และซิงเกิ้ลแรกก็ ไปได้ไม่สวยนักในออสซี่ ทำได้ดีที่ สุดในอันดับ ที่ 14 ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นซฺงเกิ้ลแรกที่ได้อันดับต่ำที่สุดที่เคยทำได้ในออสซี่ แต่ถึงกระนั้น อัลบั้ม Aphrodite ก็น่าจะเปิดตัวใน US ติด Top 20 แน่นอน แม้ว่าเธออาจจะไม่ได้ดังใน US ได้แค่นี้ ก็ถือว่าประสบความสำเร็จแล้ว
