Aguilera tells Billboard the as-yet-untitled set will arrive in summer 2009 and will be mostly produced by Linda Perry.
"I wanted to go in a completely opposite direction-a very futuristic, robotic sound and computer-sounding vocals. I'm experimenting with my voice in ways I've never done before, almost like a technical, computer-generated sound."
"The album is very pop and very upbeat, and it's inspired by [Andy] Warhol and the late-'60s scene," says RCA senior VP of marketing Scott Seviour. "Once you hear the new material you'll have a very clear idea what the direction of it is."
She said she's diving deep into "electro in particular" and she's lined up a slew of dance-music artists to collaborate with including Goldfrapp and Ladytron.
"It is a sneak preview of what's to come for the next record, hopefully to be released in the summer of 2009, which is very exciting," she said. "It's a challenge and an exciting new project for me to reinvent what I am doing yet again, and come up with something new and fresh."
"[The album also has] a new version that's really, really cool of 'Beautiful' that's in the vein of where the next album is going to go, which is a very futuristic approach to music."
"[It] definitely has touches of that [Keeps Getting Better], elements of that," she said. "But [we] go further with that. That was a taste of what's to come."
