It's interesting to hear Theron talk about connecting with her character, or at least, seeing Ravenna's point of view enough to note her great instincts and how she does what she needs to in order to survive. She seems to see the evilness of the character from the outside perspective, but understands her motivations, having stepped into her shoes in playing the part.
