Lauren Cohan is joining the zombie resistance. The alum of "Supernatural," "Vampire Diaries" and "Chuck" has landed a pivotal role on AMC’s second season of The Walking Dead.

Cohan will recur as "Maggie Greene," the sharp, self-reliant daughter of farm owner Hershel Greene and a love interest for Glenn (Steven Yuen), reports TV Guide Magazine.

The role of Hershel, meanwhile, will be played by acting vet Scott Wilson.

The duo join fellow new Dead hire Pruitt Taylor Vince, who was cast as the foreman at Hershel’s Farm — which is where much of Season 2 will be set.

“My wife and I were having dinner after enjoying a day of downtown site seeing. Jared Padalecki is our daughters favorite actor. She loves watching Gilmore Girls. My wife was talking to me when see had an astonished look on her face. I asked her what was wrong. She said without moving her lips, “Jared Padalecki is over there”. I said, “Yah right”. So my wife and I were thinking of a way to meet him without disturbing their dinner. So I asked the server to send over some wine. Jared came over after receiving the wine and said, “Did you all get this for us”. He doesn’t have a Texas accent but he did when he said that. I replied yes your the guy from Gilmore girls. He thought that was funny since he’s better known off of Supernatural of course. His wife, Genevieve, suggested we call our daughter to let Jared say hi.
